The Story Behind KPT Accounting & Consulting

Throughout my career in accounting and finance, I’ve gained experience in many areas including income tax, sales tax, financial planning and analysis, budgeting, and reporting. This varied experience has given me a broader perspective on bookkeeping and how it fits into the overall financial picture of a business.

I started this business in January 2021 as a way for me to combine my accounting and finance experience with something I've always enjoyed: helping people understand and manage the financial side of their lives and businesses. I initially offered personal financial coaching, and it wasn't long before a client asked for help with her small business bookkeeping. Soon after, I began working with my first Teacherpreneur and became fascinated by the unique business model. I've continued providing bookkeeping services to Education Entrepreneurs ever since.

I understand businesses that sell Educational digital goods. I’ve seen how the businesses operate and the unique accounting needs that come with them, whether they’re solely on TPT or selling additionally on a website shop or within a membership.

While bookkeeping is the main service I provide, my perspective goes well beyond bookkeeping. As a CPA with experience across multiple areas of accounting and finance, I'm looking at your books with the bigger picture in mind. I understand how the decisions made in your bookkeeping can affect tax preparation, financial reporting, and your ability to understand what's actually happening in your business.

I'm not simply categorizing transactions and reconciling accounts. I'm thinking about whether your books make sense, whether they're giving you useful information, and whether they're organized in a way that will serve you and your tax professional when tax time comes around.

This business has evolved since it began in 2021, but the purpose behind it hasn't: using my experience to help small business owners feel confident that the financial side of their business is being handled well.
